In response to the recent forecast by meteorologists, Jammu and Kashmir experienced a drop in night temperatures across most regions on Wednesday. The meteorological department predicts light to moderate rain in the plains and snowfall in middle and higher reaches, along with the possibility of thunderstorms and lightning at select locations on November 29 and 30.
The Meteorological Department has issued a “yellow warning” for isolated thunderstorms and lightning in both the Jammu and Kashmir regions during these two days. The color-coded warnings indicate levels of caution, with yellow signaling a need to closely monitor the situation.
From December 1st to 6th, the weather is expected to be partly to generally cloudy. Specifically, the forecast indicates partly to generally cloudy conditions on December 1st and 2nd, generally cloudy weather from December 3rd, and partly to generally cloudy conditions from December 4th to 7th.
Regarding temperature variations, Srinagar recorded a low of 0.8°C, which is 1.7°C above the normal temperature for this time of year. Qazigund recorded a minimum of 0.8°C, 1.8°C below the normal temperature for the region. Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 1.2°C, 1.9°C above normal, while Kokernag recorded 2.6°C, 3.0°C above normal. Kupwara town recorded a low of 1.3°C, 2.4°C above normal. Gulmarg, the famous skiing resort in north Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 1.8°C, 1.3°C above normal.
In Jammu, the minimum temperature was recorded at 10.6°C, slightly above the normal temperature by 0.3°C for the winter capital of J&K.
