BANDIPORA : Municipal Committee (MC) Sumbal organized a comprehensive Waste Management and Skill Training Programme on Waste Composting at the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Plant, Sumbal, aimed at promoting sustainable waste disposal and eco-friendly composting practices.
The programme witnessed the participation of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sumbal; Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Bandipora, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat (ACP) Bandipora, SDO Sumbal, officials from SKUAST-Kashmir and representatives from Magnite Agri Tech, along with officials from various departments and local stakeholders.
Representative from SKUAST-K delivered an enlightening address on the scientific importance of waste composting and elaborated on the role of Ribozymes in enhancing composting efficiency. He also conducted an on-site demonstration of advanced composting techniques, providing practical insights to participants.
Representative from the SDO Office emphasized the need to promote eco-friendly manures to ensure sustainable agricultural practices, while Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies highlighted the crucial role of cooperatives in strengthening community-based waste management systems and the growing significance of organic manure in modern farming practices.
Speaking on the occasion, the SDM Sumbal lauded the collaborative efforts of all departments, experts, and stakeholders in advancing sustainable waste management initiatives and promoting environmental responsibility at the grassroots level.
Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Sumbal, reiterated the Municipal Committee’s commitment to strengthening sustainable waste management systems, promoting organic composting, and fostering a cleaner, greener future for the area.
The event also witnessed active participation from municipal workers, scrap dealers, and other local stakeholders, whose engagement provided valuable on-ground perspectives on practical waste management challenges and solutions.
