New UT office bearers of Jammu Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Morcha presidents are likely to be announced soon as the party is learnt to have finalized the names during a high level meeting at New Delhi today.

Sources in the BJP circles told the Excelsior that J&K BJP President Sat Sharma along with General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul had a detailed meeting with BJP National General Secretary (Organization) B L Santosh and General Secretary Incharge J&K, Tarun Chugh at the party headquarters in New Delhi this evening for discussion over several important matters.

Names of the new state office bearers and Morcha heads in Jammu Kashmir as well as some party issues concerning Ladakh and land for BJP office came up for discussion during the meeting, sources said.

The finalized list of office bearers and Morcha heads will be sent to BJP National President J P Nadda for his formal approval and the same is likely to be made public within days, sources added.

Pertinent to mention that announcement of new office bearer of J&K BJP has had been pending for the last several month allegedly due to disagreement over some probable names.

According to the sources, the proposed list of office bearers and Morcha heads was prepared by Sat Sharma in consultation with Ashok Koul and the same was forwarded to B L Santosh a fortnight back.

However, sources said, the high command suggested some minor changes in the proposed names for giving representation to all sections and asked for submitting a fresh list for final approval.

The body office bearers include three General Secretaries, eight Vice-Presidents, eight Secretaries, Treasurer, Chief Spokesperson, Incharge IT Cell and Incharge Social Media.

Further, there are seven Morchas in BJP, which include Yuva Morcha, Mahila Morcha, Kissan Morcha, SC Morcha, ST Morcha, OBC Morcha and Minority Morcha.

Sources confirmed that no sitting MLA is being adjusted in the state body or Morchas in the organization while an attempt has been made for caste combination in selection of proposed office bearers for giving representation to each section of the society.

Therefore, sources said, the high command was in disagreement over a few recommend names, which have been purportedly replaced with the new ones.

A clear stand by the high command against accommodating any sitting MLA in the state body has led to deletion of a proposed name for general secretary once again while a former Rajput Councillor and a female district president are likely to have secured place for the post of general secretary.

Sources further claimed that three out of seven Morcha presidents are likely to be repeated. Though not confirmed, sources said that the incumbent presidents of Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Minority Morcha and OBC Morcha are likely to be repeated while names of Rakesh Pant, Dharminder Kumar, Neha Mahajan and Choudhary Abdul Ghani have been almost finalized for the president of Kissan Morcha, SC Morcha, Mahila Morcha and ST Morcha, respectively.

According to the sources, election of new BJP National President was also part of discussion during meeting of Sat Sharma and Ashok Koul with B L Santosh and there were speculations that the high command may hold on names of J&K BJP office bearers till the new president takes over from the incumbent J P Nadda.
