A notorious non-local drug peddler was arrested by Ganderbal police on Friday in the Shadipora area and recovered a contraband substance from his possession.
A police spokesperson in a statement said that Police Party led by I/C Police Post Shadipora under the supervision of Dy.SP Headquarters Ganderbal during routine naka checking near Sumbal Bridge apprehended a suspected person and recovered from his possession two kgs and 720 grams of Poppy bulbs which he was carrying in a white nylon sack
The accused person was identified as Joginder Paul son of Diwan Chand, a resident of Blore Pathankot, Punjab, they said.
After the arrest, police registered an FIR number 310/2023 under relevant sections of law against the drug peddler at Police Station Ganderbal, with further investigation taken up.
