In his address at the 118th Annual Session of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Union Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted the significant transformations witnessed in the past nine years. He emphasized the era’s decisive policies, political stability, democratic values, and collaborative efforts within the federal structure. Shah pointed out that this period marked the nation’s recovery from the ‘policy paralysis’ of 2004 to 2014. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for steering the country toward economic resurgence, citing the doubling of GDP from USD 2.03 trillion to USD 3.75 trillion. Shah also noted the substantial rise in per capita income, which increased from Rs 68,000 in 2013-14 to Rs 1.80 lakh. He underscored India’s enhanced global standing, with ‘India’s Moment’ being recognized worldwide. Shah highlighted the success of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, particularly through the Production Linked Incentive Scheme, and stressed the need for Indian industries to expand globally. He emphasized the importance of strengthening both large and small industries, encouraging them to become multinational entities. Shah also praised the Modi government’s new education policy, foreseeing India becoming a premier global destination for students in the next decade.
