Pakistan has closed its border crossing points with Iran for an indefinite period following attacks by Israel across the Islamic Republic, reports Dawn citing official sources.
Meanwhile, hundreds of Pakistani students and pilgrims have been evacuated from Iran, government officials has said.
Pakistan and Iran share an approximately 905-km-long border with multiple crossing points.
The closure impacts key points vital for cross-border travel and local trade between Pakistan’s Balochistan province and Iran, including the Taftan crossing in Chaghi district, Gabd-Rimdan in Gwadar, Chedgi and Jirrak in Panjgur, and the Rideeg Mand crossing in Kech district, according to a report by Arab News.
Iran and Israel exchanged missiles and airstrikes since Saturday, following a large-scale Israeli aerial assault the previous day. Iran retaliated by launching waves of drones and ballistic missiles at Israel. Explosions lit up night skies over Tel Aviv, Jerusalem as the conflict between the two nations escalated.
