Parties like PDP had made people of J&K Slaves for political gains; Nehru couldn’t handle one state of J&K while Sardar Patel ensured smooth merger of other states with Union of India: BJP leader Altaf Thakur

Says Power situation streamlined first time in J&K; thieves being punished; PDP’s statement on Lithium Auctioning similar to that of Lashkar-e-Toiba/TRF

Lambasting the PDP’s propaganda in the name of ‘Government or Occupation; senior BJP leader and party’s J&K spokesman Altaf Thakur said that there is no denying the fact that Jawahar Lal Nehru couldn’t handle the Kashmir while Sardar Valabhai Patel by showing his competence ensured joining of many states into Union of India. Thakur said as already stated by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Pt Nehru announced ceasefire when Indian forces had won up to Punjab and took the Kashmir issue to the United Nation’s Security Council unnecessarily.

Thakur said that Nehruvian blunders’ aren’t hidden and it’s the PDP’s love lost for Nehru and Gandhi’s that they are trying to hide huge mistakes by Nehru. The BJP leader while taking a jibe at PDP said that it is the party’s jealousy towards BJP that they can’t see the development that took place in J&K since 2014. He said that gone are the days when youth would check the identity cards of policemen on roads. Hasn’t the security situation changed? Hundreds of youth were joining terrorist ranks which have been brought down to zero? Can’t PDP see this change that today youth prefer sports and for a fact check, this year so far, 60 lakh youth participated in various sports related activities across J&K.

He said can’t PDP see the night life returning to Kashmir after 30 years. People and youth are enjoying themselves on river banks, late night events are held in Dal lake and for the first time in the history of J&K, 2.5 Crore tourists including 55,000 foreign tourists have visited J&K in 2023 so far. Isn’t this a change? This isn’t mere arithmetic but ground reality. The BJP leader said since PDP used Article 370 as their poll plank for years to fool people of J&K and now that the Article stands buried forever with solid Supreme Court ruling justifying the decision taken by PM Narendera Modi on August 5, 2019. The vision of Shama Prasad Mukherji, who resigned from Pt Nehru’s cabinet on the pretext that a country can’t have two flags, two constitutions and two PM’s has been fulfilled. Isn’t this a reality that J&K is a part of India and can PDP explain why there should have been two flags, two constitutions and two PMs in one single country which is world’s leading economy now.

On the power curtailment claims by PDP, Thakur said for the first time power distribution has been streamlined and fully metered areas are getting round the clock power or less curtailment. He said due to the dry spell this year, water level in rivers went down which caused a huge dent to power supply but still J&K admin procured additional 2000 MWs of power to address the power deficit in J&K. Wasn’t there curtailment in PDP’s rule? Thakur said that power thieves are being sternly punished and can’t PDP see that?

The BJP leader said why PDP can’t digest auctioning of Lithium. Mining will take place as per Environment Impact Assessment and not in a haste, Thakur said, adding that the statements on Lithium auction by the PDP are similar to what Lashkar-e-Toiba/TRF has been claiming. So is PDP an off shoot of LeT/TRF, the party must explain, Thakur said.

As far the PDP’s claim of from citizens to slaves, the reality remains that for the first time people of J&K are enjoying their rights and knowing their worth as they were supressed for years by the regional parties like PDP.
