Director General of Police Rashmi Ranjan Swain Wednesday said peace in Jammu and Kashmir had been achieved after a lot of hard work. Visiting the twin south Kashmir districts of Shopian and Pulwama where he chaired meetings with the senior officers of the Army, CRPF and Police to take a first-hand review of the current security scenario of these districts, the DGP said, “Peaceful atmosphere in J&K had been achieved after a lot of hard work and sacrifices by Police and security forces.” He stressed the officers to be vigilant as the enemies of peace were looking for chances to disrupt the peace. Swain lauded the good work and efforts of forces and intelligence agencies in fighting terrorism in south Kashmir. “To uproot terrorism more joint efforts of all are needed,” he said. “Synergy among the forces has to be enhanced to the next level.” The DGP emphasised coordination among ranks at different levels in planning and executing actions for zero terror plans. He directed to work on plans for area domination on a routine basis. Calling for the safety and security of the people, Swain stressed generating more human intelligence, adding that people’s welfare was the prime concern. He impressed upon the officers to work with professionalism, sincerity, and in a dedicated manner for the safety and security of all people. The DGP said that J&K Police along with other sister agencies had succeeded in creating a conducive atmosphere in J&K and to maintain it was a big challenge. He also took stock of the working of the Police Stations and their requirements. Swain directed the officers to take care of the immediate needs of the cops so that they could discharge their duties without any difficulty. The DGP was accompanied by the ADGP Law and Order J&K, Vijay Kumar and IGP Vidhi Kumar Birdi. He was received at these districts by the SSPs of Shopian and Pulwama. Ceremonial guards of honour were presented to the DGP on his arrival in these districts.
