Police arrests drug peddler in Baramulla; Contraband substances recovered

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police has arrested drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from his possession.

A police party of Police Station Uri headed by SHO PS Boniyar at a checkpoint established at Boniyar, intercepted one vehicle bearing registration number JK05D-8299. During search, 110 grams of contraband Heroin like substances was recovered from his possession. He was identified as Idrees Shafi Khan son of Mohammad Shafi resident of Noorkhah Bijhama. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Boniyar were he remained in custody.

Accordingly, case under relevant sections of law have been registered at police Station Bijhama and investigations have been initiated.

We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.
