In its ongoing efforts to combat illegal timber smuggling, Handwara Police acted on specific intelligence and conducted raids at two locations in the Darashpora area of Handwara. During the operation, a total of 28 illegally felled timber logs were seized on the spot.
Accordingly, FIR No. 80/2025 has been registered under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and Section 26 of the Indian Forest Act at Police Station Handwara, and further investigation is underway.
The accused individuals involved in the case have been identified as:

2. Mohd Amin Tantray,
S/O Habibullah Tantray,
R/O Dureshpora, Handwara
It is noteworthy that this marks the second consecutive successful operation by Handwara Police in the area this week. In an earlier operation, multiple locations in Darashpora were raided, resulting in the seizure of a large quantity of illicit timber, which was later handed over to the Forest Department for necessary action.
