In its relentless campaign against drug trafficking and commitment to a drug-free community, Kupwara Police scored a major breakthrough by arresting a person at Gundmacher crossing, Sogam. During naka checking, one person was found roaming in suspicious condition. On noticing the naka police party, the person tried to flee from the spot, who was tactfully apprehended by the police party. Upon questioning, the person disclosed his identity as Farooq Ahmed Lone S/o Ghulam Rasool Lone R/o Mukam Dardpora Lolab.
A search revealed a charas-like substance in his possession. A case, FIR No. 36/2025, has been registered under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Sogam Police Station, and an investigation is set into motion.
