In a significant action against illegal mining, Handwara Police today seized 09 tractors from various locations across Police District Handwara for their involvement in unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals.
Acting on specific inputs, police teams from different police stations launched coordinated enforcement drives. During the operations, the vehicles were found transporting minerals without valid documentation, in violation of the Jammu and Kashmir Minor Mineral Concession, Storage, Transportation of Minerals and Prevention of Illegal Mining Rules, 2016. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the violators as per the relevant provisions of law.
