Srinagar, February 13, 2025 – In an ongoing effort to curb the circulation of banned literature, the Srinagar police conducted a ground assessment on the availability of Jamat-e-Islami (JeI) propaganda material across various bookshops in the city. Policemen, acting as decoy customers, visited ten bookshops around Lal Chowk, Srinagar, to assess the situation.

Out of the ten shops inspected, two were found to be in possession of literature promoting JeI ideology. The first, Chinar Publication Trust in Maisuma, had a staggering 642 copies of books written by Maulana A.A. Madoodi, a key figure in JeI’s ideological literature. The second, Kashmir Book Depot on M.A. Road, was found to have 26 such books in its stock.

All 668 books have been seized, and the owners of both establishments have been instructed to cancel any future orders for literature promoting JeI ideology. Legal action is being taken against the bookshops in accordance with the law.

Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity involving banned material. (TRK NEWS)
