JK Peoples Democratic Party leader Mohd Rafique Rather has hailed the appointment of Prof. Ajaz Ahmad Rather, a distinguished surgeon and the current Head of the Department of Surgery at SKIMS.JVC Hospital, Bemina, as the new President of the Jammu and Kashmir Surgeons Association of India, JK Chapter.
In a press release issued today Rafique Rather said that Prof. Ajaz Rather is a highly respected figure in the medical fraternity, Dr. Rather is known for his clinical excellence, academic contributions, and leadership qualities and added that his appointment is a significant step towards furthering the standards of surgical care and professional development in the Union Territory.
Rafique Rather said that the surgical community and colleagues across various institutions have alao warmly welcomed his appointment, Rather while expressing confidence said that under Dr. Ajaz Rather’s leadership, the Association will witness new heights of growth, collaboration, and innovation.

Dr. Ajaz Rathers contribution , PDP leader said that Prof Rather has earned numerous prestigious fellowships, including those from the Royal College of Surgeons (UK), the International College of Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the Association of Colorectal Surgeons of India, and the International College of Laparoscopic Surgeons. He is also a recipient of the Travelling Colorectal Fellowship (UK). With over 100 research publications to his credit, Dr. Rather serves on the editorial boards of more than ten international medical journals.
Rafique Rather describing Prof.Ajaz a proud alumnus of Government Medical College Srinagar said that Dr. Rather hails from Baramulla and comes from a respected family background. He is the son of Late G.A. Rather, a distinguished educationist and renowned teacher, whose legacy of knowledge and service continues to inspire all Baramullians with pride.
