Dardkote, Uri: The residents of Dardkote Ward No. 1 are facing significant difficulties due to the poor condition of the road constructed under the PMGSY scheme. Once a necessity for the villagers, the road has now become a major problem. Lack of maintenance and repairs has rendered the road almost unusable. Walking on it is challenging, let alone driving vehicles. During rainy days, the road becomes even more hazardous, and the upcoming winter season is expected to exacerbate the residents’ troubles.

Villagers report that while the PMGSY department had sent machinery to repair the road some time ago, no specific instructions were given to the operators regarding the road’s repair work. The machinery arrived but left the work incomplete, causing further frustration among the locals. The most damaged sections of the road remain unrepaired, and drainage work is also unfinished. The absence of a proper drainage system leads to waterlogging on the road, creating daily challenges for the residents.

The villagers also highlight that the road is not only problematic for pedestrians but has become an obstacle for buses and trucks as well. Vehicles struggle to navigate the damaged path, forcing people to delay or cancel necessary travel plans. The poor state of the road has made it difficult for villagers to reach hospitals, schools, and markets, affecting their daily lives.

With winter approaching, the situation is expected to worsen as snowfall will make the road even more dangerous. Despite repeated complaints to the authorities, no action has been taken, leaving the residents disheartened and helpless.

The people of Dardkote are now urging the PMGSY and district administration to immediately begin repair work on the road and complete the drainage system as soon as possible. They assert that a well-maintained road is their right and deserves prompt attention.

The villagers emphasize that promises alone are not enough; practical work on the ground is essential to provide relief to the community. A good road is not only a matter of convenience but also crucial for the overall development of the village. The residents hope the authorities will take this issue seriously and act swiftly to address their concerns.
