Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar officially endorsed the women’s reservation bill, recently approved by Parliament, before it heads to President Droupadi Murmu for her final approval.
The Constitutional amendment bill, overwhelmingly supported in the Lok Sabha and unanimously in the Rajya Sabha during a special parliamentary session earlier this month, aims to secure 33 percent reservation for women in both the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. However, its implementation will be subject to the upcoming census and the subsequent delimitation process, which will determine the specific constituencies designated for women candidates.
