MUMBAI: (Apr 15) The rupee sustained its gaining momentum and jumped 39 paise to 85.71 against the US dollar in early trade on Tuesday, buoyed by a robust rally in domestic equity markets and crude oil prices hovering at record low levels.
According to forex traders, a weak American currency index also strengthened the local unit despite the outflow of foreign capital.
They attributed the rupee’s rise to the US administration’s latest move to suspend the additional 26 per cent tariffs on India till July 9. PTI
