People’s Conference Chairman and MLA Handwara Sajad Lone has urged the government to take immediate action after 22 students of Islamic Global School, Padshahi Bagh Srinagar, were left unable to sit for their Class 10 exams due to the school’s non-registration with the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE).

The students had submitted their exam forms two months ago, but JKBOSE recently rejected them, citing the institution’s lack of registration. With exams set to begin on Monday, the affected students are unable to obtain roll number slips, putting their academic future at risk.

Lone criticized the government for allowing unregistered schools to operate, stating that it is the administration’s responsibility, not the parents’, to ensure schools meet legal requirements.

He emphasized that parents cannot be expected to verify a school’s registration status before enrolling their children.

“The onus of rescuing these children falls on the government. This is not a Union Territory or state issue— it is well within the powers of the administration,” Lone asserted. He urged JKBOSE Chairman to intervene and facilitate a partnership with a registered school to ensure the students can take their exams.

He further warned the authorities against shirking their responsibilities, calling for urgent action to prevent the students’ careers from being jeopardized. (KNS)
