According to data accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a total of 8,14,727 tourists visited the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden from March 26 to April 20, 2025, surpassing all previous records.

The record-breaking footfall includes locals, national, and international tourists, who came to witness the mesmerizing bloom of over 1.7 million tulips of different varieties.

The highest single-day footfall was recorded on April 6, when 81,352 visitors entered the garden, followed by April 13 with 70,430 visitors. The surge in tourists during weekends and the peak blooming period contributed significantly to the record.

In the opening week itself, the garden saw over 1.56 lakh visitors, and the momentum only increased with each passing day, highlighting the growing popularity of the annual tulip festival among tourists from across the globe.

During the 26-day period, the count of foreigners visiting the garden has mounted to 3121, reads the data.

Officials credited the unprecedented success to improved infrastructure, enhanced promotional campaigns, and favorable weather conditions during the blooming season.

They added that the garden’s aesthetic appeal, with new flower beds, fountains, and walking paths, also drew more visitors than previous years.

“This year has been phenomenal. The combination of full bloom, sunny weather, and high tourist inflow created the perfect atmosphere for record footfall,” an official at the Department of Floriculture told.

Meanwhile, the authorities here have decided to close the Tulip Garden Srinagar to the public from April-24.

An official told  that as the Tulip bloom is almost over, the garden will be closed from 24-April-2025. The garden, which is located at the foothills of the Zabarwan Range, was opened for tourists on March 26 this year.

An official said with the end of the Tulip season, the authorities have decided to close the garden for general public from April 24—(KNO)
