Magam, Handwara: A devastating gas cylinder blast completely destroyed the shed house of Aijaz Ahmed Sheikh in Magam Upper Cherhar. The incident left the family in distress, as the structure was entirely gutted despite the swift response from the Department of Fire & Emergency Services (F&ES) and the police team from the Magam outpost.
Following the incident, Tehsildar Handwara, Naib Tehsildar Magam, Concern Patwari Halqa, concern chokidar and prominent social activist Dr. Sheikh Jamsheed visited the site to assess the damage. The Sub-District Administration of Handwara provided immediate relief to the affected family.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Sheikh Jamsheed appealed to the Deputy Commissioner of Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, to allocate relief funds from the district’s resources to support the family. He highlighted the additional challenges faced by the family, noting that one of its members has been battling illness for several years.
The tragic incident has drawn widespread sympathy, with calls for urgent assistance to help the family rebuild their lives.
