Sonam Lotus, the Director of the Department of Meteorology in Jammu and Kashmir, has been transferred by the government, to head Meteorological Center in Leh.
Sonam Lotus, Scientist-E, will work as Head M.C Leh and is relieved of his duties as Head M.C. Srinagar with immediate effect until further orders, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Scientist-D will work as Head of MC Srinagar with immediate effect until further orders.”
Sonam lotus is also known as the “Saint Lotus”, “Weatherman”, or “Peer Lotus” for his accurate weather predictions
The Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), New Delhi honored Sonam Lotus with “Best Employee Award” for the year 2017 – 2018 in recognition of his significant contribution in the field of Meteorology which are averting disaster and natural calamities in the State.
His departure marks the end of an era where the name ‘Sonam Lotus’ became synonymous with dependable weather predictions.
