Sopore Police have arrested 04 gamblers and recovered stake money and playing cards from their possession.
On a specific information regarding gambling activities at Tarzoo, police party of Police Station Tarzoo led by SHO Insp. Sajad Ahamd under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Shri. Sarfaraz Bashir-JKPS raided the spot. On seeing the police party gamblers tried to flee but were apprehended and were identified as:
1. Shareef ud Din Sheikh S/O Abdul Ahmad Sheikh,
2. Mohammad Ismail Sheikh S/O Late Abdul Gani Sheikh,
3. Nasir Ahmad Mir S/O Abdul Rashid Mir and
4. Nisar Ahmad Sheikh S/O Abdul Aziz Sheikh all the residents of Tarzoo.
Stake money of ₹6000/- & playing cards were recovered from their possession.
In this connection, case under relevant sections of gambling Act stands registered at PS Tarzoo and investigation has been initiated.
Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be strictly dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
