Sopore Police have seized a consignment of illegally smuggled forest timber from compartment No. 33 at Rawoocha Rafiabad. The recovery was made by a police party led by SHO PS Dangiwacha Insp. Aijaz Ahmad, who were accompanied by officials from the forest department.
The seized timber, measuring 20 square feet, was found in the possession of three accused individuals identified as :
1. Mumtaz Ali Khan son of Fareed Ahmad Khan
2. Ali Mohd Sheikh son of Khazir Mohd Sheikh and
3. Abid Khan son of Parvaiz Ahmad Khan
All three accused are residents of Rangpath Handwara. A case FIR No. 13/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Dangiwacha, and an investigation is underway.
