The Srinagar Police have registered a case against businessman Sandeep Mawa for allegedly obstructing government functionaries in the discharge of their duties and furnishing false information. The case has been filed at Police Station Kothibagh under FIR No 31 of 2025.
Sandeep Mawa son of Roshan Lal Mawa has been booked under several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 including Section 192 of BNS which pertains to the act of providing false information to a public servant, Section 353(1)(b) of BNS which relates to the use of criminal force or obstruction to deter a public servant from discharging official duties, Section 353(1)(c) of BNS which deals with endangering the life or safety of a public servant or others during the commission of obstruction and Section 353(2) of BNS.
A police official confirmed the registration of the case and said further investigation is underway. We are following due process as per the new legal framework under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita the official said adding that appropriate action will be taken based on the findings. (KDC)
