In a major step against drug trafficking, Srinagar Police has seized a property worth ?1.5 crore under the NDPS Act. The attached property includes a two-storeyed house and over one kanal of land located in Budoo Bagh, Khanyar, Srinagar.
The property belongs to Gulzar Ahmad Bhat but is in possession of his son, Suhail Ahmed Bhat, a known drug peddler. Suhail is involved in FIR No. 55/2022 registered under sections 8/21 and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Khanyar.
Police investigations found that the property was bought using money earned through illegal drug trade. Acting under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, the police legally seized the property, which can no longer be sold, transferred, or used without official permission.
Suhail Ahmed Bhat has a history of selling drugs to local youth, posing a serious threat to public health and safety.
This action is part of Jammu and Kashmir Police’s broader strategy to break down the financial backbone of drug networks and maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward narcotics.
