JAMMU: Calling for imbibing lessons embedded in the game of chess, Senior BJP leader Devender Singh Rana observed that the game is not just all about wit on the board but reflects complexities of life that demand strategy and patience to succeed.

Inaugurating IDPS Checkmate – The Grand Chess Fiesta at the International Delhi Public School here, Rana said the choices one makes in life and farsightedness he or she cultivates are all echoed in this mind game.

“We all must learn Chess as the game promotes cognitive agility, fosters strategic reasoning and cultivates mental acuity”, he said adding that the participation of youngsters from various schools in the competition signifies the importance and awareness of sports in present time, he added.

Hailing the International Delhi Public Schools in Jammu and Kashmir, Devender Rana said collective and collaborative efforts are imperative for bringing transformative capabilities in the educational sector. He made a passionate appeal to all the premier schools in the private sector to enable children of the marginalised segments to get ornamented with the quality education as part of their social responsibility.

Rana said private schools can hugely supplement the endeavours of the public sector educational institutions and contribute significantly in ensuring academic excellence by synchronising specialized curricula, and extracurricular activities, as per needs and aptitudes of students. Such collaborations can facilitate the sharing of best practices, resources, and expertise, ultimately contributing to a more comprehensive educational system, he added.

Rana said that Jammu and Kashmir has the potential of formidable chess talents and brightest children who eventually later in life will emerge as great Chess Masters of the world and will make Jammu and Kashmir proud. The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir stands poised to contribute significantly to the world of chess with its promising pool of young and aspiring players, he added.

Chairperson IDPS, Arunima Choudhary, Suminder Singh, Pro-Vice Chairman, IDPS, Randeep Wazir, Principal, Madhu Abrol, School Manager, Romy Khajuria and others were present on this occasion.
