Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has suggested that strengthening marketing efforts and supporting FPOs could be the key to achieving this goal.
During a conclave, Cooperation Minister Amit Shah emphasized the importance of modern technology and marketing methods in making agriculture a profitable business. He suggested that Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and FPOs could play a key role in this endeavor. According to Shah, FPOs formed by PACS are more effective at providing benefits to farmers than those set up by individuals, companies, or partnerships. He also encouraged existing FPOs to partner with PACS. The agriculture, animal husbandry, and fisheries sectors are crucial to the Indian economy, and growth in these sectors could lead to increased GDP and job opportunities. Shah highlighted the Modi government’s initiatives over the past nine years to boost farmers’ income, including the allocation of Rs 1.15 lakh crore to the agriculture sector in the 2023-24 budget, up from around Rs 22,000 crore in 2013-14.
Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, along with Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and Minister of State for Cooperation BL Verma, attended the event. Shah highlighted the government’s efforts to increase the MSP and strengthen procurement operations.
