Jammu Kashmir Apni Party Vice President Usman Majid expressed anguish over the losses incurred by people due to heavy hailstorm and intense rains in Bandipora district. He sought compensationfor farmers and orchardists. The severe weather conditions that lasted for hours played havoc with standing crops and destroyed the months of hard work of our farmers.”
He further said that the hailstorm has significantly caused fatal trauma to the people at various places and the heavy downpour badly hit farmers in many villages of Bandipora district.
Majid in a statement said, “The sudden and heavy hailstorm they swept through dozens of villages across Bandipora district has left a trail of devastation by damaging orchards and various other standing crops. The sheer degree of damage to standing crops makes it imperative for government agencies to step in and provide relief to the affected. I urge the district and divisional administration to depute revenue teams to assess the losses to people so that the amount of compensation is worked out and distributed forthwith as well
Majid appealed to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to direct the concerned officials to assess the losses and to announce a special financial package to the affected farmers, orchardists who have suffered extensive damages due to hailstorm that caused havoc in in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
