Former JKPCC President and CWC Member Vikar Rasool Wani, accompanied by senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Moonga, Dr. G.N. Lone, Zahoor Ahmad Shah, Wahab Ahmad Wani, and Abdul Rashid Bhat (Tangdhar), visited the shelling-affected villages of Tangdhar sector along the Indo-Pak Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district.
During the visit, Wani and the delegation assessed the widespread damage to homes and infrastructure caused by alleged cross-border shelling and directly interacted with residents to hear their grievances and struggles.
Wani expressed deep concern over the inaction of both the BJP-led Central Government and the National Conference-led Government in Jammu and Kashmir, despite the severity of the situation.
“Even after the visit of the Chief Minister, the affected families have received no real assistance. The BJP and NC governments have failed these people. While the BJP government has surrendered in front of Pakistan, they are busy celebrating events to distract from the Pahalgam incident and to gain electoral advantage in states like Bihar,” Wani said.
He reaffirmed the Congress Party’s clear and historic stand against terrorism, noting that real action—not hollow speeches—is what the people of Jammu & Kashmir need today.
Allotment of 10 marlas of land to each affected family in safer locations. ₹20 lakh compensation for every affected family for rehabilitation and rebuilding. Immediate construction of community bunkers like in R.S. Pora to protect civilians from future shelling.
Strict legal action against the BJP MLA who made derogatory remarks against Indian Army officer Sofiya Qureshi.
“Sofiya Qureshi is not just a Muslim woman—she is a brave officer who attacked terrorist camps. Anyone insulting her or our forces is speaking against India. If BJP leaders are true nationalists, they must file an FIR and remove such leaders from their party,” Wani stated firmly.
He further warned that the continued instability is severely affecting tourism in Kashmir, as many tourists are cancelling bookings due to the disturbed atmosphere.
“How can tourism flourish when the situation is so unstable? The government’s failure to maintain peace is destroying livelihoods across the Valley,” he added.
The Congress Party stands shoulder to shoulder with the people of border areas and will continue to fight for their safety, dignity, and justice.
