ANANTNAG: Former Union Minister and DPAP Chairman, Ghulam Nabi Azad has claimed to ensure revolutionary development and give boost to tourism if his party is elected to power in the Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a large public rally at Hillar Shahbad in Dooru Tehsil of district Anantnag on Tuesday, Azad outlined his vision for comprehensive development in J&K. He highlighted the significant strides made in infrastructure and social sectors during his tenure, including the establishment of hospitals, colleges, roads, schools and initiatives to boost tourism.

DPAP Chairman referred to the establishment of a Medical college in Anantnag, underscoring his commitment to furthering development in the region. He pledged to continue investing in infrastructure, healthcare, education and tourism, promising more opportunities and progress for the people of J&K. He urged the electorate not to succumb to efforts aimed at fragmenting votes or maintaining goodwill with all parties at the expense of justice for their own people.

Former Chief Minister claimed to ensure revolutionary development, massive boost in tourism besides creating massive job opportunities for the youth in J&K if his party is elected to power in the Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized the importance of unity in defeating divisive forces seeking to suppress the region.

“I have returned to J&K to protect my people from the present crisis. Our people are distressed and our rights have been unjustly snatched away,” Azad asserted.

He criticized other political parties for their past failures and empty promises. He said other parties have misled the people and raised slogans they have since forgotten. “How can we trust them anymore?”

DPAP leader urged the gathering to consider his track record, stating, “You have tested them for years and witnessed my two and a half years as Chief Minister. Now, give me a chance to serve you. I will bring a revolution in J&K,” Azad claimed.

His call for trust in new leadership and commitment to transformative change struck a chord with the audience, signaling a potential shift in political dynamics in the region.

Azad shed light on the hypocrisy of former BJP allies who are now accusing his party. He emphasized that these parties should reflect on their own past actions before pointing fingers, stating, “They were the ones who formed a government with the BJP in the past. Even today, they are pleading with them to form an alliance.”

Reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding the land and jobs of the people of J&K, he pledged to enact laws to protect the rights unjustly snatched away from the people and ensure their restoration. Azad emphasized, “If my Government is formed, we will bring forth legislation to safeguard the rights of our people.”

Referring to the issue of Statehood restoration, Azad said, “We have been promised Statehood restoration, but we must continue to fight until we achieve it.

“Dividing votes or pleasing all parties will not serve the interests of our own people. It is imperative to stand united and vote with integrity to ensure justice for our community,” Azad added.

Among others who were present on the occasion were Mohd Amin Bhatt, Provincial president, Ch Haroon Khatana general secretary, Salman Nizami chief spokesperson, Adv Saleem Parray DDC and spokesperson, Zameer Ahmed District president Anantnag and others.
