Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday said that the party will raise the issues related to development, tourism, unemployment and others during the upcoming Budget Session of Jammu and Kashmir, slated to be held from March 3.
A senior BJP leader and Jammu west lawmaker, Arvind gupta while speaking to the news agency said that the party will focus on the development of Jammu and Kashmir, tackling youth unemployment and also improving tourism across the region.
The leader said, “We will raise the issue of unemployment among the youth of J&K and work towards creating more job opportunities for them.”
The BJP will also push for the development of border tourism, particularly in areas previously impacted by cross-border shelling. “We are committed to promote border tourism in both Jammu and Kashmir and we want these areas to benefit from tourism for the overall development of the region,” Gupta added.
Regarding the liquor ban, he stated that the party has no objections to the proposal. However, he criticized the PDP, stating that it is the same party that opposed the ban when it was in power but is now demanding it. “Kashmir is the land of Sufis, and Jammu is the land of temples. If the liquor ban is implemented, we support it. The PDP opposed it in the past but is now deceiving the people on this issue,” he said.
The BJP lawmaker also took aim at the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference’s (JKNC) 12-point manifesto, claiming the party has not fulfilled its promises. “Instead of addressing real issues, the ruling party is misleading the people by focusing on Article 370 and other irrelevant matters,” Gupta said—(KNO)
