Govt. Girls Middle School Boniyar observed World No Tobacco Day 2025 with great enthusiasm and a sense of social responsibility. The event was marked by a series of engaging and educational activities centered around the global theme “Unmasking the Appeal.” Students and staff alike participated wholeheartedly to spread awareness against the use of tobacco and to promote a healthy, tobacco free lifestyle in the community.

The programme began with a rally organized from the school premises, where students raised slogans and carried placards to spread awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco. The rally aimed to sensitize the local population about the dangers of tobacco use and encourage them to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

A painting competition was also organized on the theme “Unmasking the Appeal,” in which six students from various classes participated. The young artists creatively expressed their thoughts through powerful and thought provoking visuals that highlighted the ill effects of tobacco and its deceptive attraction. The colourful and meaningful artwork drew much appreciation from the staff and spectators.

This was followed by an awareness session, where students delivered impactful speeches addressing the harmful consequences of tobacco consumption. They stressed the importance of saying “No” to tobacco and encouraged their peers to influence others positively. The highlight of the programme was a drama performance by the students, beautifully staged to reflect the message of the day. Through their acting, they conveyed the emotional and physical toll of tobacco use and emphasized the need to stay away from it.

Later, certificates of appreciation were distributed to all the male teachers of the school for maintaining a tobacco free lifestyle and acting as Brand Ambassadors of the tobacco free campaign. Their efforts in encouraging a healthy school environment were duly acknowledged.

During the event, Mr. Mukhtar Ahmad Qureshi School Cultural Co-Ordinator, addressed the students and urged them to contribute to the goal of a tobacco free society by making wise life choices and using all available resources to spread awareness. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Muslim Bin Akil, a teacher GMS Boniyar, who appreciated everyone’s efforts and participation.

The entire programme was supervised and proposed by the Headmaster of GMS Boniyar, Mtr. Shabeena Masood, whose guidance and support made the event a grand success.
