Boniyar, March 22, 2025 (Saturday): On the occasion of World Water Day 2025, a grand awareness programme was organized at Govt. Girls Middle School Boniyar to highlight the significance of water conservation and the need for responsible water usage. The day began with the teachers and students collectively taking the ‘Save Water Pledge’, committing themselves to using water judiciously and spreading awareness about its importance.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from all students and staff members. Mr. Mukhtar Ahmad Qureshi, the School’s Cultural Coordinator, addressed the gathering and delivered an inspiring speech. He urged the students to become ‘Save Water Warriors’ and contribute towards water conservation not just on this day but throughout the year. He emphasized that students have a unique role in society, as their actions and messages influence not only their peers but also their families and communities. He motivated them to be responsible citizens and utilize their energy and resources for the welfare of society, especially in spreading awareness about the wise use of water.
On this occasion, Mr. Muslim Bin Akil, a respected teacher of the school, also addressed the students and delivered an important message. He reminded the students that water is one of the most precious gifts of nature, and its wastage is equivalent to disrespecting nature’s blessings. He called upon everyone to ensure that not a single drop of water is wasted, whether at school, home, or in public places.
A special highlight of the programme was the distribution of ‘Save Water Warrior’ Certificates to two students who had shown exemplary dedication in spreading awareness and taking actions to save water. This recognition was aimed at encouraging other students to follow their lead and actively participate in environmental conservation initiatives.
Importance of World Water Day
World Water Day, observed every year on 22nd March, is a global event initiated by the United Nations to highlight the importance of fresh water and to advocate for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. The day serves as a reminder of the critical role water plays in every aspect of human life from health and hygiene to food security and economic development.
With growing concerns over climate change, water scarcity, and pollution, World Water Day provides an opportunity for individuals, communities, and institutions to reflect on how they can protect and conserve water. It aims to inspire people to take concrete steps toward ensuring that water remains available for future generations. The theme of this year’s World Water Day focused on collective responsibility and the need for everyone, including children, to become Water Guardians in their daily lives.
The programme at GMS Boniyar concluded with a collective resolution by both teachers and students to continue raising awareness and practicing water conservation daily, making it part of the school’s culture and the community’s lifestyle.
