Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged with 250 underprivileged students from nearly every district of Jammu and Kashmir as part of the “Watan Ko Jano-Youth Exchange” program at his residence on Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi.
According to an official statement, the interaction at Modi’s residence was informal and open. These students are on a tour of Jaipur, Ajmer, and New Delhi under the Central Government’s initiative. In line with the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ spirit, the visit aimed to expose the cultural and social diversity of the country to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Prime Minister inquired about the students’ travel experiences, the iconic places they visited, and discussed the rich sporting culture of Jammu and Kashmir. He inquired about their participation in sports and cited the example of Sheetal Devi, the young archer from Jammu and Kashmir, who secured three medals at the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou.
Modi commended the talent of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, expressing belief in their potential to excel in any field. He encouraged them to contribute to the country’s development and work towards realizing the dream of ‘Viksit Bharat @2047.’
Discussing the construction of the world’s highest railway bridge in Jammu and Kashmir, Modi highlighted its potential to enhance connectivity in the region. He also touched upon the success of Chandrayaan-3 and the Aditya-L1 mission, stating that these scientific achievements have made every Indian proud.
Addressing the record number of tourists visiting Jammu and Kashmir, Modi emphasized the immense opportunity in the tourism sector. He urged the students to incorporate daily yoga practice into their routines and discussed the successful organization of the G20 summit in Kashmir, as well as efforts to keep the country clean.
The students are expected to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union MoS in PMO Dr. Jitendra Singh. In a post on X later, the Prime Minister described the interaction as memorable, praising the students’ enthusiasm and energy. A video of the event showcased students expressing delight at meeting Modi and describing the experience as amazing, incredible, and magical.
