Jammu & Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) Provincial Secretary and Senior Leader, Umer Jaan, today expressed deep concern over the ongoing crisis in the education sector of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly highlighting the plight of students suffering due to the administration’s lack of attention.
“Education is the passport to the future, and it is disheartening to see our education system failing our students,” said Mr. Jaan. “In Kashmir, the education sector has suffered immensely due to a persistent lack of attention from the administration.”
Mr. Jaan pointed out a critical issue: the unavailability of textbooks in the market. “It is shocking that essential learning materials like books are not available for students to purchase,” he said. “This creates a major hurdle in their education, especially for students in crucial foundational classes like 1st and 2nd standard.”
Adding to the problem, Mr. Jaan criticized the government’s directive mandating all private schools to use government-issued books. “While implementing a uniform curriculum might have its merits, this policy cannot be successful in a vacuum,” he explained. “The government must ensure the timely availability and distribution of these books before enforcing such a directive.”
JKAP urges the administration to take immediate steps to address these issues.
Mr. Jaan demanded that the authorities ensure the immediate availability of textbooks across all markets in Kashmir.
He emphasized the need for proper planning and distribution channels to prevent such shortages in the future.
JKAP called for a review of the directive on using government books in private schools, ensuring proper supply and distribution are established before full implementation.
“Our students are the future of Jammu and Kashmir,” concluded Mr. Jaan. “The administration has a moral and constitutional obligation to ensure they have access to quality education. We, at JKAP, demand immediate action to address these issues and create a conducive learning environment for all our students.”
