Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 02 drug peddlers in South Kashmir’s Kulgam and Anantnag districts and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party of Police Post Nihama at a checkpoint established at Nihama near Bridge, intercepted a suspicious person identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat resident of Chogalpora Manzgam. During search, 340 grams of Cannabis Powder & 30 grams of Charas were recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
Meanwhile in Anantnag, a Police party of Police Post Sangam at a checkpoint established at Tulkhan Crossing Sangam, arrested a drug peddler identified as Reyaz Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Ramzan Dar resident of Hassanpora Taveela and recovered 12 Bottles of Codeine Phosphate from his possession. He has been shifted to Police Station Bijbehara where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
We urge common masses to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112 in case any information about the drug peddlers comes to their notice. General Public has a greater role in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure our commitment of acting tough against such elements.
