SRINAGAR: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah Wednesday countered the LG Manoj Sinha’s remarks of introducing stricter laws to prevent organisations like Jama’at to contest elections.
“Why should LG Sinha have a problem with Jama’at-e-Islami,” Omar asked while speaking to reporters in Srinagar.
Which law is there in the book that LG is thinking to use against the Jama’at, Omar remarked.
The members of the Jama’at are contesting as independents and not as an organisation, which is already banned by the government, Omar said.
He said, that instead of LG, other politicians, including himself should have an issue with Jama’at fighting, because “they are taking our votes.”
“Anyway, Omar said, there will be no LG making rules in J&K after October 8, but the people would decide.”
